Biology 20 Ecosystem Assignment Clarification

Hi girls, Mrs. C guest posting here. After listening to your anxiety during study periods and after school in the library, I have tried to pin Mr. C down on exactly what his expectations are for this assignment. He has referred me back to the rubric he posted previously and when I pushed him further for a word count said, and I quote, "In my opinion, to sufficiently cover the topic, you would require approximate 2-3000 words. That is depending on your skill as a writer." And I am assuming he means 2000, not actually 2. This is only if you are writing an essay, of course. If you're doing some other kind of project you're not worrying about a word count. Hope this helps.

Biology 20: Your assignment on Ecosystems is due this week. We have begun our notes on the diversity unit. There will be more notes and an assignment on Monerans this week.

Sci 9 : This week we will discuss the topics of sexual and asexual reproduction as well as the process of mitosis and meiosis.

Acc 20 : We are finishing chapter three this week so the exam will be coming soon.

Physics 30 : Do not forget the exam this week. Topics of study will be an expansion on vectors and vectors at angles other than 90 degrees.

So here are this weeks plans. I like to let everyone know what is coming up so if you are going to be gone you can get a head start.


Bio 20: We will set out the due date for the Eco project next class. please be sure to consult the earlier listing as to how the project will be evaluated. You should have all of your reseach by now and be well under way in putting it all together. For those of you doing an essay you may want to consider handing it in on your USB so all I have to do is copy it to my desk top. This saves paper and you can't blame your printer.

Bio 30: This week we will be doing the Facebook posting project. Use you class time well as the due date will be early next week.

Sci 9: Lessons continue on out genetics unit. There may be a pop quiz on mono hybrid crosses using dominance or codominance in your future. We will be learning about the differences between sexual and asexual reproduction as well as the topics of Mitosis and meiosis. There will be quite a few journal entries to make so be sure to keep on top of things

Chemistry 20: The main focus of this week is learning how to read and write chemical formulas using oxidation numbers. On top of that we will be introducing the concept of the Mole. Make sure you have batteries in your pencil and your calculators sharpened.

Accounting 10: There will be an exam on chapter two at the end of the week. We will be beginning chapter 3 next class so be sure to start reading.

Physics 30: We will be doing problems involving the analytical method and non uniform motion. There will be a hand in assignment coming this week after we have practiced with a few problems. A test will soon follow. Be sure to ask questions in class. Do not be shy as if you are confused the odds are the others are as well.


This is for every one: If you are having troubles ASK FOR HELP !!!!! My mind reading abilities have dulled considerably as I've gotten older. Don't sit in silence and do nothing and hope it goes away. Ostriches bury their head in the sand and hope the lions run away. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to know that does not work. Just come get me at noon or in the morning for help.
If I look grumpy I probably am but don't let that stop you.

We will be looking at how to determine bond type and molecular shape.

Bio 20: This week we are working on our ecosystem project. Remember that by the end of next class you will have to show me your work. It should have notes indicating you have consulted several sources and that a large part of the topics outlined have been investigated.

Sci 9: This week we will be taking notes and practicing with examples of Mendelian monohybrid crosses showing dominance and co-dominance.

Hello everyone. This week projects are beginning and it is important that you all have them done on time and are sure they are complete. I will be posting Rubrics on these projects to help guide you and also to help you understand how they are evaluated.


Sci 9: Your genetics project is due next class and will be evaluated as follows:

1) Ready to go when it is your turn.
2) Did you introduce your topic clearly and was it an inherited trait.
3) Did you explain what the trait is or what the condition causes.

5) Did you presentation show that you read material and created a presentation in your own words.


Bio 20: You haven't been assigned this yet but it is coming this week so I thought I'd get a jump

Purpose: To research an ecosystem and provide a full description of:
i) The geographical location
ii) The climatic conditions
iii) A survey of the diversity of flora and fauna
iv) A description of how life in that ecosystem is adapted to it's unique
conditions.
v) Concerns over the survival of the ecosystem.

Chem 20: This week will be having lessons on the modern atomic theory focusing on

i) The electron cloud
ii) electron configuration
iii) lewis dot diagrams
iv) types of bonds and molecular architecture.

Biology 30: After we go through the questions on the three major macromolecules there will be
and internet assignment on this topic. I will ask you to join my Bio 30 facebook
group and post the assignment on that forum so that the other students can see your
work. On top of that I will have you send a message to me containing one multiple
choice question about your posting with the answer as well. These questions will be
used in the exam on this topic and act as an encourage for people to read your
posting.

Topic: Major Macromolecules Important to Humans

1) Research a Protein, Carbohydrate, or Lipid that is important to humans.
2) Describe its' general structure.
3) What does it do in the human body.
4) What are the major health concerns around this molecule.


Accounting 10: This week we are studying Chapter 2. We have discused the first seven vocabulary
terms and will be doing questions next class.

Welcome Back!

Welcome back to school everyone. Coincidentally, bowhunting season opens this week, so I am in a great mood and you will notice I have not given homework to any of my classes! I have to comment on the eerily quiet bio class yesterday - what was up with that? Not that we want total mayhem but you can all relax a little bit - hearing the clock ticking is a little creepy.
Anyway, please remember to faithfully check the blog to stay current on assignments and test dates - that is YOUR responsibility. You are in charge of your own success.
However, never be afraid to approach me for help or to ask for clarification during class if you're having trouble understanding a concept. I am here to help you.
