Here's what I've got out of him on the eve of the bio exam girls:
You don't have to memorize ALL of the tiny parts of photosynthesis and respiration, just the main concepts of what they are - the basic steps and what happens in them.
Learn how to do genetics problems.
Learn the structure of DNA.
Learn the basics of protein synthesis.
Know your hormones.
Know the parts of the brain.
He says most of the test is multiple choice and matching.

Half the year is done
Well it's finals time time now and I hope everyone is busy studying. Here are some tips:
1) Make sure you know all of the vocabulary terms.
2) Focus on the major problems we have solved or concepts that were covered.
3) Do not overwhelm yourself with minor details. Again focus on the main topics and ideas.
4) If you will be needing it be sure your calculator works and you know how to use it.
5) If you have a recommend this is a real opportunity to improve your grade.
At one point I placed some links on the blog for each subject that you may find useful. Take the time to check them out.
Next half:
One thing I emphasized the first half is a well organized and complete set of notes is your best friend. The work we do in class is designed to help you learn the concepts being taught. If you try your best and don't put work off until the last minute your results will improve.
There is one trend I have seen developing and this is an increase in classes missed by students. Vacations, sickness, orthodontists, and a multitude of other reasons seem to be taking their toll. Attendance in class, especially when lessons are being taught cannot be replaced by a set of photocopied notes. You really need to be there. Because of this, I am asking all students and parents to make a true effort. If you are trying to have the best possible transcript when applying for post secondary you may want to rethink that vacation or find an alternative time for that appointment. The choice is yours of course but remember that the job market and post secondary education is becoming competitive and you want to have as many options as you can.
Once a lesson is taught the courses must move forward. Provincially dictated curriculums must be covered in order to provide a complete subject. Because of this a topic cannot be retaught to the class a week later if a student has been absent. If we could go back in time that would be great but so far we can't (although the Physics 30 students are working on it.)

Countdown to the Physics Departmental...
This is where I would have the theme from "Jaws" playing if I could figure out how to do it. Ha ha. Sorry - not really. Anyway, I think Mr. C has some old exams printed out for you to practice with, but I thought I would add this link Sask. Education Departmental Exam Samples since it has the Physics tests including last year's! And if you go through them the answer key is included at the end, so you can see how you've done. The link includes all subjects, so you have to scroll down to get to the Physics and then choose the year. Hope this helps and try not to panic!
